National Human Rights Laws in Pakistan
Pakistan has enacted several laws to protect fundamental rights and freedoms. Some of the key legislations include:
Constitutional Rights (Article 8–28 of the Constitution of Pakistan)
- The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees basic human rights, including:
Right to life and liberty (Article 9) - Right to fair trial (Article 10A)
- Right to freedom of speech and expression (Article 19)
- Right to education (Article 25A)Right to equality and non-discrimination (Article 25)
Protection Against Human Rights Violations
- The Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (2010) – Ensures workplace safety for women.
- Juvenile Justice System Act (2018) – Protects the rights of minors in legal cases.
- The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) (2016) – Addresses cybercrimes and online harassment.
- The Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act – Protects individuals from domestic abuse.
